Appalachian

Appalachian Flooring Ltd is a relatively new company for flooring industry standard. The company began in 2001 with a plant located in Cowansville, Quebec. The company then opened a prefinishing facility several years later in 2006 at a site adjacent to the existing plant. The company then began to make its Evershine (trademarked by the company) finish. The company also attempts to use its facilities to boost overall quality.

Product Line

Appalachian specializes in hardwood products. The company sells varieties of both sold and engineered hardwood floors. The company's solid floors feature wood from yellow birch, hickory, red oak, American, cherry, hard maple, and walnut along with exotic woods like cumaru, jatoba, tigerwood, ipe, and santos mahogany. In terms of engineered floors, the floors have a 4.5 inch wear layer and are bonded together with a polyurethane adhesive. It can be floated or glued to concrete and stapled or nailed to a wood subfloor.

Finish

One thing that sets Appalachian apart in the marketplace is its remarkable new finish called Evershine. It finish has a unique chemical makeup. It features abrasion-resistant aluminum oxide particles are that are found in the top layer of the finish. This protects the floor and allows Appalachian to offer a 35 year wear warranty on its products (most wear warranties are 20 to 25 years).

Support / Warranties

The company offers warranties on its hardwood flooring products for both solid and engineered. As discussed above, the warranty of 35 years for wear is pretty good and is due to Evershine. Since the company is relatively new, it does not have an extive dealer network in the US. However, it does have a couple of dealers in most populous states.
